Product description

With a Draftbooster chimney fan from Exodraft, optimal draught can be achieved in the chimney by creating negative pressure in the flue pipe and chimney.

Draftbooster has a vertical discharge, meaning it directs the smoke straight up into the air.

The chimney fan is designed to withstand continuous temperatures of up to 250 °C. It is manufactured from stainless steel.

Draftbooster is easy to operate, as it comes with a remote control that allows you to switch it on and off.

The chimney fan is easy to install on the chimney. For safety reasons, a stainless steel mesh is fitted in the discharge opening to prevent contact and to keep birds out.

FAQ

In this section you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Draftbooster. Learn how it works, what benefits it offers, and how it can make lighting your stove easier, cleaner and more reliable.

How does a Draftbooster chimney fan work?

A Draftbooster creates negative pressure in the chimney.
When you turn on your Draftbooster, a draught is created in the chimney, making the fire burn cleanly and smokelessly.
You can use a Draftbooster on any chimney with insufficient draught – both steel and brick chimneys with an inside diameter of maximum Ø220 mm.

Shouldn’t there be a natural draught in the chimney?

Often, the natural draught in the chimney is insufficient – and the problem only gets worse, as we make our homes more airtight and energy efficient, installing air conditioning and powerful range hoods.
There is not enough air to go around in a draught-free house, and it is very common for the stove to have insufficient air – the result is difficulty lighting the fire and smoke in the living room.

Can a Draftbooster replace a tall chimney?

In quite a few places, you can install a Draftbooster chimney fan instead of making your chimney longer.
The Draftbooster chimney fan sends the smoke up high in the air, ensuring that fumes and particles are kept away from the roof and your neighbour.
With a Draftbooster, you can avoid having a tall eyesore of a chimney.

Can I turn off my Draftbooster once fire has been established in stove?

Yes. A Draftbooster either goes full speed or it is off. If the draught during use (in a thoroughly warm chimney) becomes too great, you can turn off your Draftbooster.
The Draftbooster is built to allow fumes to escape, even if it is turned off. Therefore, it doesn’t have the effect of a “plug”, but rather as an extension of the chimney.

What happens in the event of a power failure?

Due to its open construction, the legally prescribed minimum evacuation of smoke gases is ensured. The resistance in the Draftbooster is so low that it only functions as an extension of the chimney in the event of a power failure. Your wood stove will then work again as it would without the Draftbooster.

Do I need to clean my Draftbooster?

By law, you must get the chimney swept by a chimney sweep, but the chimney sweep is not legally obligated to clean the Draftbooster chimney fan.
Therefore, it is up to you to make sure the Draftbooster chimney fan is cleaned at least once a year, so you can keep the outlet of the chimney clear.
It is extremely important to keep the Draftbooster free of soot and deposits. Soot is the primary cause of chimney fires.
Frequency of cleaning depends on how often you use the stove and Draftbooster. More frequent use requires more frequent cleaning.
With regular use of the stove (2-3 times a week), frequent cleaning of the Draftbooster may be required (2-3 times a year or more).
If the stove is used every day, more frequent cleaning may be necessary.
Regardless of how often the stove is used, the Draftbooster needs to be cleaned and inspected at least once a year.
A Draftbooster keeps birds and dirt out of the chimney, so it will not be obstructed.

Does the chimney sweep have access to my chimney with a Draftbooster?

Yes. Draftbooster has a small button on the front near the lid, which makes it easy for the chimney sweep to open your Draftbooster chimney fan and gain access to the chimney flue. When the chimney sweep is done, he will simply close the lid on your Draftbooster, engaging the automatic lock. The absence of screws means that the chimney sweep can work faster and that you do not have to worry about replacing lost screws.

My chimney top has a square hole – what do I do?

If your chimney opening is square or rectangular, you will need a steel flange. These can be bought with your Draftbooster at you local Exodraft dealer.

Is the Draftbooster noisy?

No. The construction of the fan is effectively balanced with high quality ball joints and a very low noise level.
You will only hear a slight whooshing sound due to air moving through the smoke channel.
